In BEI, we seek to record, process, image, and control biomedical signals and develop instrumentation for biological research and medical applications. Specific examples of bioelectricity and instrumentation include:
cardiac pacemakers for restoring heart rhythm
brain-computer interfaces to link the brain and environment
magnetic resonance imaging system for imaging the anatomy and functions of the brain and body
Upon graduation, students in the BEI Emphasis Area have gone on to graduate school, medical school, and employment in industry.
Please remember that all courses listed are merely suggestions. You may take any cohesive set of classes that meet the Engineering and Science Elective requirements and are approved by the Emphasis Area Advisor and the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
